Butter a baking dish – one appropriate for baking puddings in, obviously
Slice panettone – I guess they're round so you could even make lil wedges

If your custard is in a tin or a carton, mix if with a bit of milk. It'll take some elbow grease to get it to come together, so if you don't fancy it, fine.
If you're making powdered custard or fancy fuck custard, then make it milkier... only a little, so it soaks into the christmas bread better
Layer panettone into dish, slices overlapping a little
Pour over custard and let sit for 30 mins or so
Scatter optional items over the top
Bake for about 30-40 minutes at 160c
