Preamble

I'm in Manchester for Gong Polishing, and the food scene is the city is in a bit of a strange phase.

What was once a melting pot of upstart young chefs and streetfood (actual street food) and food from around the world, is now almost a 50/50 split of typical bar menu mains – think korean chicken burger, dirty fries etc. – and natural wine slinging small plate gaffs.

Neither of those are bad but there is just no more choice, no new weird and wonderful eateries. Even the OG Chinese restaurants are slowly being taken over by bastardised riffs on the classics.

Breakfast

I was not much in the mood for breakfast.

You guessed it, a korean chicken burger courtesy of the hotel kitchen.
