And so begins the eventual decline into January. Everyone is back at work and I'm fighting back tears while taking all of the Christmas decorations down. The downside of having a nice time, at any point in the year, is that when it's over, it's over. The mere thought of halls being decked and bells being jingled feels icky. The moment is over.
But gluttons we are. So festive remnants it is.
What if you made french toast... with Italian Christmas bread? Say no more!
Napoleon would be having a wet dream at the mere thought. I present to you the eggy panettone.
Shopping wont be here for a few more days so we are in full rationing mode. Growing up on a diet of Ready Steady Cook, and Can't Cook, Won't Cook, I think my superpower is making something tasty out of barely anything at all.
This is not a good example of that.
I wont subject you to evidence of what was the most diabolical of soups. Cabbage, potato and pearl barley.
I'm sorry.
Now we're talking. I had to make up for the abysmal lunch somehow.
There was one last portion of leftover turkey in the freezer, the majority of a jar of brussels sprout kimchi and a boat load of stock. Luckily we were in possession of just enough Gochujang and some vermicelli noodles.
One of my favourite Korean dishes is Kimchi Jiggae and although usually serviced with rice, I have it on authority that Korean's DGAF. So here it is with noodles.
