It's practically spring. Fake spring. Another one. But thats a pretty nice vibe to be feeling. There are rumblings of steak for dinner so naturally that's all I can think about.
Overnight oats. Obvs.
Lunch today went from a panic of not having anything in to whipping up a fairly tasty, if not random, noodle dish.
Yesterday we had a modular salad. A component of which was a spicy peanut dressing. And of course of which there was far too much leftover. Hello noodle sauce.
I rummaged a few vegetable ends out of the fridge: half a bag of sad beansprouts, a leaf or two of a chinese cabbage that is destined to become kimchi, and some tenderstem broccoli. All fried together with some spring onions, rice noodles and topped with an egg.
Nice one.
"Jack, teach me how to steak" alright, then. You don't have to ask me twice! (He didn't)
I am an OKAY cook at best, but it makes for a nice excuse to hang out with friends. Tonight I cooked and hung out with a friend under the guise of teaching him how to steak.
The method was bob on, and exactly the way anyone should cook steak: room temperature steak, oiled and seasoned. A hot but not too hot dry pan. 2 minutes either side. Thermometer right to the heart. Rest. Tasty.
Unfortunately the end result was decent but not perfect. No complaints though. I stand by the method.
